Jack Craft & ted laredo: The Shallowater Silo Project. Two site specific installations.

Jack Craft and ted laredo unveil their groundbreaking exhibition, The Shallowater Silo Project. Featuring two captivating site-specific installations, Craft and laredo join forces to push the boundaries of artistic expression.

Nestled amidst the vast expanse of the Llano Estacado, where the echoes of Apache, the Comanche and bison once roamed only when it rained, stands an empty grain silo. It is a place so flat that native son Terry Allen once commented “in Lubbock you can see sixty miles in any direction, a hundred if you stand on a can of tuna.”

Jack Craft's art installation, LOOK AROUND, beckons viewers to contemplate the infinite horizon of Lubbock and its surroundings. Adorning the outer circumference of the silo with a mirror, Craft captures the essence of the expansive landscape, reflecting light and space in a symphony of visual intrigue. As viewers approach, they are enveloped in a kaleidoscope of reflections, blurring the lines between reality and illusion beckoning the viewer in. The experience offers a disorienting yet enchanting journey, as viewers find themselves immersed in a 360-degree panorama of their surroundings.

Within the confines of this humble silo artist ted laredo has crafted a mesmerizing installation that blurs the boundaries between the earthly and the celestial. At the heart of this immersive experience is tilted ellipse - a rotating glittering iron orb suspended from the ceiling, its movements interacting with the magnetic photo luminescent tape lining the silo's interior. As the orb dances, the tape responds, creating an ever-shifting interplay of light and space that evokes the grandeur of the universe. Step inside this singular chamber and lose yourself in a visionary exploration of the infinite within the finite.

Craft and laredo's collaborative effort in The Shallowater Silo Project encapsulates the spirit of artistic innovation, inviting audiences to ponder the vastness of the universe and the intricacies of our earthly existence. This exhibition promises to leave a lasting impression on all who venture into its captivating realm.
